The Creation of Indonesian Eve

Nadya's artwork is an interpretation of Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam. The central figure dons Batik fabric, with the hair styling of a Javanese bride. The artist took inspiration from Alphonse Mucha's Art Nouveau style; depicting femininity through art and conveying how women should support each other through patriarchal situations in Indonesia.

About the Artist

Nadya Noor is a full-time graphic designer at an online news outlet based in Jakarta. She is also a freelance illustrator who is open to various mediums of visual work such as prints, merchandise, comics, product designs, murals, and more. Her editorial illustrations have been featured on VICE Indonesia & BBC Indonesia. Her illustrations address issues such as gender equality.
