This piece is inspired by The Meal of Lord Candlestick by Leonora Carrington, and represents the warmth and belonging felt during a family meal. Growing up, the artist's family would always have dinner together. She remembers hearing the stories of everybody’s day, the ups and the downs, the surprises and the disappointments. Even when they were short of time, they would make time. Sharing the taste of a meal, serving one another with care, and having conversations as plentiful as the food. A meal with family is a wonderful thing.

About the Artist

Aura is a mixed media illustrator based in Bangkok, Thailand. Her approach is to create illustrations of memorable moments. Her subjects include human characters, food, and nature, which culminates in cheerfulness and happiness. She uses a combination of different paper collage techniques and acrylic colouring to create her artwork.
